Welcome to the home page of the Durham branch of the Muzzleloaders Association of Great Britain (MLAGB) which was founded in May 1998.

The MLAGB itself was formed in 1952 and is the Governing Body for muzzle loading within the UK.
Its objectives are to encourage an interest in muzzle loading firearms;
to promote, regulate and safeguard their use;
and to preserve their freedom of collection.

The main objective of the branch is to encourage the sport of muzzle loading shooting in its different types of activity - Shotgun, Rifle, Pistol, and Collecting.

At present our most active sport is clay shooting with one sporting shoot each month.

The clay shoots are held in the grounds of Witton Castle Estate at Bishop Auckland and also at Houghall Farm near Durham.

Please see the calendar page for dates which are open to members of the MLAGB who wish to come along as guests of the Branch.
